Cedar Fair, L.P.'s Flagship Park, Cedar Point, Again Voted 'Best Amusement Park in the World' Monday August 28, 8:02 AM EDT SANDUSKY, Ohio, Aug 28, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Cedar Fair, L.P. (FUN), a publicly traded partnership which owns and operates twelve amusement parks, five outdoor water parks, one indoor water park and six hotels, has, for the ninth straight year, earned the title of "Best Amusement Park In The World" for its flagship park, Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, according to an international survey. In addition, Cedar Point received top honors for "Best Capacity", while Kings Island, Cincinnati, received the award for the "Best Kids' Area" and "Best Park Concert Venue." The survey is conducted annually by Amusement Today, the popular Arlington, TX-based publication that covers the international amusement park industry. The magazine surveys its panel of experts, asking them to rate "bests" in 23 categories, such as "amusement parks," "roller coasters," "water parks" and "live shows." The magazine presents the winners with its prestigious "Golden Ticket Awards." Survey results revealed Cedar Fair received recognition in ten categories. In addition to being named "Best Amusement Park" for the ninth straight year, Cedar Point also received awards for the "Friendliest Employees" (No. 3) and "Best Outdoor Night Show Production" (No. 4). Our newly acquired Kings Island amusement park received top honors for the "Best Kids' Area", while Carowinds, Charlotte, N.C., and Kings Dominion, Richmond, Va., were ranked No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, in the same category. The Halloween Haunt at Cedar Fair's Knott's Berry Farm, near Los Angeles, was also rated as the No. 2 "Halloween Event." According to the survey results, Cedar Fair parks boast six of the top 30 steel roller coasters in the world, led by Cedar Point's 310-foot-tall signature coaster, Millennium Force, which was rated No. 2. Ranked as the No. 3 steel coaster was the 205-foot-tall Magnum XL-200, which has been one of the most popular roller coasters in the world since its debut at Cedar Point in 1989. Also placing in the top 30 were two additional Cedar Point coasters, the 420-foot-tall, 120-mph Top Thrill Dragster at an impressive No. 10 and Raptor at No. 14. Meanwhile, Steel Force at Dorney Park, Allentown, Pa., was ranked No. 15, Kings Dominion's Volcano ranked No. 25 and the MAMBA at Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, Mo., was ranked No. 26. The Partnership also earned high honors for three of the top 15 wooden roller coasters in the world: Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure, Muskegon, Mich., was ranked as the sixth best wooden roller coaster, The Beast at Kings Island was ranked No. 8 and Knott's Berry Farm's GhostRider came in at No. 12.
